Chippenham Labour Party has announced that Andy Newman will be their parliamentary candidate for the general election on 8th June.
Mr Newman was also the Labour Party candidate in 2015, where bucking the national trend he increased Labour’s share of the vote.
Mr Newman is a telecommunications engineer, living in Corsham. He is an active trade unionist, branch secretary of the GMB in Wiltshire, where he represents thousands of members in all walks of life.
Andy Newman says:
“Britain faces a stark choice, a competent, compassionate Labour government committed to an economy that works for all, or a bumbling, arrogant Conservative government that serves only the rich few. But we cannot achieve a Labour government unless we vote for a Labour government. I am asking for your support as Labour candidate for the Chippenham constituency.”
His campaigning priorities will be housing, and the need to defend the economy and workplace rights through the uncertainty of Brexit.
